.NGO and .ONG are two new domain extensions created exclusively for the NGO community by Public Interest Registry, the operator of .ORG.
Public Interest Registry is introducing these two domains to provide a unique global online identity for NGOs worldwide. Both domains are covered under one registration. A registration entitles you to be listed in a global directory and the ability to create your own expanded profile. Registration for .NGO/.ONG is only available to legitimate Non-government organisations. (For details please visit newsletter .NGO)
As one of the original domains, .ORG has been shaped by the global community as the place to express ideas, knowledge, and causes on the Internet. Whether an individual with an idea to share, a small club organizing and motivating your members, or a large company conducting educational and marketing campaigns – the .ORG domain name communicates trust, credibility, and community interest. In January 2003, the Public Interest Registry assumed responsibility for operating .ORG and maintaining the authoritative database of all .ORG domain names. (For details please visit www.pir.org)
